Concurrent Technologies announces their latest range of high
performance RoHS compliant CompactPCI single board computers (SBC) -
the PP 410/03x family. To give the latest high performance
processing, the boards feature the low power dual core processors
from the Intel embedded roadmap: the 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo L2400
processor and the higher performance 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo
T2500 processor. The PP 410/03x can access up to 4 Gbytes DDR2-400
ECC SDRAM at up to 6.4 Gbytes/s. And for I/O flexibility there are
two high performance PMC sites supporting both front and rear I/O,
three Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, PICMG 2.16 (Ethernet fabric),
PICMG 2.9 (IPMI) and PICMG 2.1 (hot swap). The PP 410/03x can operate
as a system controller board, a peripheral board or as a satellite
board (blade). This combination of high performance data processing
and a wealth of I/O ensure that the boards are ideal for intensive
data processing applications within the telecommunications, defense,
security, telemetry, scientific and aerospace markets. Extended
temperature variants are also available.
The PP 410/03x board supports the 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo T2500 (in a
socket) or the 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo L2400 processor (soldered);
both processors support 2 Mbytes L2 cache (shared between the cores).
By using appropriate operating systems and applications software, a
computing performance increase of up to twice an Intel Pentium M
processor is achievable, and yet the Intel Thermal Design Power (TDP)
for the 2.0 GHz dual core processor is 31W versus 27W TDP for the 2.0
GHz Intel Pentium M processor 760. The Intel E7520 server class
chipset and Intel 6300ESB ICH are used to complement the processor to
achieve a high performance, yet low power, core
architecture.
The combination of the Intel Core Duo processors and the Intel E7520
chipset provides a perfect performance upgrade path to our existing
server class CompactPCI product line," commented Glen Fawcett, CEO,
Concurrent Technologies. "Intel continues to provide an
excellent, long term road map for processors and chipsets. We believe
this combination will be particularly well received in high-end
communications applications where enhanced I/O capability is required
as well as superior CPU performance."
As an intelligent PMC carrier with dual PMC sites, the PP 410/03x is
ideally suited to intensive I/O or data applications. Each PMC site
is controlled via its own PCI bus. PMC site 2 supports up to 100MHz
PCI-X operation and supports a x8 PCI Express XMC interface. PMC site
1 supports up to 66MHz PCI operation. As well as front I/O, the PMC
I/O connector signals from both PMC sites are routed to the rear
connectors (J4 is not fitted).
A wide range of onboard I/O is available: the board supports three
10/100/1000Mps Ethernet interfaces (one front and two rear) and the
front panel also supports a USB 2.0, RS 232, graphics, keyboard and
mouse interfaces. As well as dual PMC rear I/O, the rear panel
supports three more USB 2.0, up to two more RS-232, two SATA150,
stereo audio line in/out, parallel printer port and 3.5-inch floppy
disk interfaces. Other features included are a watchdog timer, long
duration timer, LAN boot firmware and options for an onboard 2.5-inch
EIDE hard disk drive and/or CompactFlash EIDE storage. For
applications requiring rear I/O connections a variety of transition
modules are also available.
For ease of integration, the PP 410/03x family of boards support many
of today's leading operating systems, including Linux, Windows Server
2003, Windows 2000, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, VxWorks and
QNX.
List prices for the 2.0GHz GHz Intel Core Duo T2500 processor version
starts from $3080 US.
